CES 2022: SK hynix Announces PCIe 4.0 Platinum P41 SSD

Pushing the Limits of PCIe Gen 4
PCI Express 5.0 might be in the news a lot lately, but that doesn’t mean we are close to reaching the limits of PCIe 4.0 anytime soon. To this end, SK hynix has announced an all-new member of their flagship Platinum SSD lineup called Platinum P41, a PCIe NVMe Gen 4.0 SSD. This will be a very high performance option that also boasts “industry-leading endurance”.
Via SK hynix:
The new SK hynix Platinum P41 will be SK hynix first Gen 4.0 SSD with a 176-NAND layer and will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2022 in 500GB, 1TB and 2TB sizes. A competitive SSD among the PCle Gen 4.0 SSDs, the Platinum P41 will offer sequential read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s, sequential write speeds up to 6,500 MB/s, as well as an industry-leading endurance rating of up to 1,200 TBW.
Additionally, the Platinum 41 will feature random read speeds up to 1,400K IOPS and random write speeds up to 1,300 IOPS, which is the fastest SSD among the PCIe Gen 4.0.
Technical specifications table pictured below:
The Platinum P41 will be based on the SK hynix Aries controller, and while sequential numbers look to be outstanding with up to 7000 MB/s reads and 6500 MB/s writes, the random read/write IOPS of up to 1400K/1300K might be more impressive.
SK hynix states that final pricing and availability will be announced later in Q1 2022.
