BIOSTAR Racing Z690 GTA For Your DDR4 On LGA 1700 Needs

It Has PCIe 5.0, Just Not On The M.2 Slots

The FPS Review recently took a look at the BIOSTAR Racing Z690 GTA motherboard, giving it a Silver Award as they did encounter a few challenges.  The first challenge was the power configuration, BIOSTAR suggests that it has 17 phases but The FPS Review were unable to discover any details on how they were configured.  The good news is that the board uses Dr. MOS MOSFETS and sports active cooling on the VRMs, so there was no instability at all regardless of the lack of details on the power phases.

The other question they had about the BIOSTAR Racing Z690 GTA was why the four M.2 slots are all PCIe 4.0.  This isn’t much of a problem at the moment as there aren’t any PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives on the market but it could be a barrier to upgrading in the future.  The rumour is that PCIe 5.0 NVMe drives will require a larger NVMe slot which is why you aren’t really seeing many boards with a next generation NVMe slot.

There are many good features on this board and support for just about anything you might want to attach to it, as you can find out here.

The motherboard also features PCIe 5.0 support, DDR4 memory support, dual-channel memory mode operation, 8x SATA ports, 3x M.2 sockets, 2.5GbE networking, WiFi antenna connections, Optane technology, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 2.0, etc.
