ADATA XPG Legend 960, Silicon Motion PCIe 4.0

The Silicon Motion SM2264 Controller In Action
So far we have only seen the press releases associated with the eight channel SM2264 controller, with in house benchmark results, but that changes with TweakTown’s review of the ADATA XPG Legend 960. The drive ships with 512Gbit Micron 176-layer B47R TLC flash chips paired with a 1GB DDR4 cache. ADATA also gives the drive a five year warranty, or 780 TBW for the 1GB model and 1560 TBW for the 2TB drive.
The performance is uniformly impressive, apart from sequential reads which are not something an SSD is asked to do very often. When TweakTown looked at the overall meaningful performance they described the drive as “the seventh best-performing flash-based SSD we’ve ever tested“. It hasn’t arrived in stores yet, but when you combine the performance with a price expected to be around $0.12/GB this is one PCIe 4.0 SSD you should grab if you are expanding your storage.
It's been more than two years that we've been waiting on Silicon Motion to bring forth its SM2264 Gen4 SSD controller, and now it's finally here!
