The Rumour Is This May Be A Very Unique Apple Launch
It has been tradition for quite a while to have a huge press event to show off new iPads and Macs, just like when Apple announces their new mobile devices. The rumours on the ‘net suggest that this will not be the case this year. Mark Gurman, who has covered any number of these events over the years is suggesting that this time, the new products will be announced via press releases and limited briefings; not the gala we have become accustomed to.
This launch, however it happens, will encompass several products which will be powered by the new M2 chip. This makes things a little more interesting for those who aren’t planning on picking up new iPads or other devices. The original M1 was quite an impressive piece of silicon, and there are many looking forward to seeing how Apple’s follow up chip improves on the original.
We aren’t sure exactly why Apple might chose to abandon their public event, but we do have an idea what will be announced. There will be an 11″ and a 12.9″ iPad Pro as well as 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro laptops, all powered by the new M2 chip. Keep an eye out for benchmarks, once we can find some.
Apple could decide to release its remaining products for 2022, which includes an updated iPad Pro, Mac mini, and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, through a press release on its website rather than a digital event, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
