TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite PCIe 4.0 SSD Has A Light Price
No DRAM, But ~ $0.05/GB
The naming of TEAMGROUP’s T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite indicates no DRAM cache onboard but could well also refer to the low price of the SSD. The drive is rated for 7,400MB/s read and 6,400MB/s write speeds, which it managed to slightly beat on The FPS Review’s test bench. The slightly lowered speeds compared drives with a physical cache as opposed to an SLC cache like the T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite sports do lower the synthetic benchmark scores. On the other hand it means a delay of less than a second when loading a game or a save file when you use it in real life.
That makes this drive a great buy for anyone who needs more storage space, as the amount of free space on a drive has a huge impact on speed and spending five cents per gig means you can buy a much larger drive than if you looked at a PCIe Gen 5 SSD or even a Gen 4 with a cache. Behold all the results here.
The TEAMGROUP T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite PCIe 4.0 Gen4 x4 M.2 NVMe SSD can run up to 7,400MB/s read and 6,400MB/s write, maintaining high-speed Gen4 NVMe performance. The T-FORCE CARDEA A440 Lite is based on the Phison PS5027-E27-61 controller, but lacks a DRAM cache, and utilizes Kioxia 162-layer TLC NAND flash.
