The All New NVIDIA App, Now With 15% Less Performance!

Bleeping Computer has some good news for gamers that trusted NVIDIA enough to install the new NVIDIA app, which was supposed to handle updates, overlays, optimizations, recording and a host of other goodies, but also slowed performance by about 15%.  That is just enough to notice, but not enough to be glaringly obvious so there are likely a lot of NVIDIA users out there wondering if it is just them or if their system has slowed down.  The bad news is that no, you are not imagining things, the good news is that there is an easy fix.

The problem stems from the Game Filters feature in the NVIDIA App, which is enabled by default.  If you open the app and go to the menu found under Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode, you can then disable that feature and get your full performance back.  You can also uninstall the app and wait for a new version, as there have been numerous bugs, crashes and other unwanted behaviours associated with the NVIDIA app.  If you do want to keep it, at least you will get those frames back!

Nvidia has shared a temporary fix for a known issue impacting systems running its recently unveiled NVIDIA App and causing gaming performance to drop by up to 15%.
