Testing The Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 & RX 9070 XT Out Of The Box And Overclocked

FSR Versus DLSS
The reviews of AMD’s new RX 9070 and 9070 XT continue, with a look at the Sapphire Pulse lineup. They tested a few games we haven’t seen frequently, such as Final Fantasy XIV, if that happens to be one of your favourites. Out of the box, the Sapphire Pulse RX 9070 offers a Boost Clock of up to 2520MHz and the RX 9070 XT will hit a Boost of 2970MHz, not the fastest cards but certainly not to be sneered at. When Neoseeker manually overclocked the cards they raised the frequencies on the cards by 200MHz in AMD’s control panel, and dropped the voltage by 100mV.
As we’ve seen in other tests the cards like it when you drop the voltage, and you can see in the tests it gained them more than just a frame or two in game, in some cases they saw close to a 10% increase. The tiny difference in price between the RX 9070 and 9070XT makes it difficult to recommend the non-XT version, but for some the increased performance when overclocked and undervolted might interest some gamers.
The Sapphire PULSE RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT leverage the same cutting-edge RDNA 4 architecture (featuring 3rd Gen Ray Tracing and 2nd Gen AI enhancements), with both having 16GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit bus, 128MB of Infinity Cache, two HDMI ports, and two DisplayPorts. The RX 9070 XT boasts higher clock speeds: a Boost Clock of 2,970 MHz and a Game Clock of 2,400 MHz. In contrast, the RX 9070 runs at 2,520 MHz Boost and 2,070 MHz Game Clocks.
