Move Over FLP01, Silverstone Is Releasing The Retro FLP02 With A Turbo Button

The 5.25″ Floppy Fascias Hide Optical Drive Mounts

The Silverstone FLP01 is a retro styled horizontal case reminiscent of the days of the 386 which was going to be an April Fools Joke but turned into a internet sensation and Silverstone had no choice but to start selling them for real.  Silverstone has made the wide choice to develop a follow up, the FLP02.  This one is slightly more modern, replicating the design of an old beige 486 system.  The Turbo button and LCD from those days are present and even work, albeit as a fan controller, and the lock and key will prevent the power button from being depressed and accidentally turning off; this was a serious concern back in the day.

The three 5.25″ floppy drives can be left in place or you can install optical drives, fan controllers or maybe even the old ThermalTake X-Ray if you can find one.  As with the previous model, the FLP02 has hidden USB-A and USB-C on the front panel.  Inside, the case looks completely different from your old 486, with support for modern cooling to go with the modern system you would install inside, up to and including an RTX 5090.

The retro look of the FLP02 will cost you though, when released later this year the planned MSRP is $220.

SilverStone's first '80s throwback PC case started life as an April Fools' joke, but the success of the FLP01 was apparently serious enough to merit a follow-up. The company brought another beige case to the Computex trade show this week, the vertically oriented FLP02 (via Tom's Hardware).
