Now There’s An Idea! The GOG One-click Mod Initiative

It’s Just a Few Handpicked Mods For Now, But Will Grow

GOG wants to become the go to place for installing major mods, taking the lessons they learned from hosting Fallout: London to make the process easier.  If you haven’t installed Fallout: London, once you reverted back to the non-updated version of Fallout 4 you then had a series of instructions to run through in order to get the mod working.  For experienced modders the process was no challenge but for the casual gamer it could go horribly wrong if you skipped a step.  GOG is also planning on being the place to get Skyblivion, so it makes sense for them to want to create a one-click solution.

Along with those two games, you will be able to install Doom 3’s Phobos mod, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines’ Unofficial Patch, and Heroes of Might and Magic 3’s Horn of the Abyss mod.  The one-click mods are going to be either total conversions or hugely popular mods, you are unlikely to be able to add the 87 mods you currently have applied to Skyrim in one click.  It will be great for those not comfortable with the whole modding process and should save the rest of us time when we load up a game and it’s mods to have some fun.

There’s no set date yet, but you can keep an eye out for news on GOG.

After providing a go-to place for very big and very buggy Fallout 4 mod Fallout: London last year, GOG have just announced that they're expanding their efforts to be a go-to place of you want to easily play high-profile or must-have mods for certain games.
