The Saga Continues; Is The Issue Real or Just Coincidental?

Yesterday we saw reports of a variety of drives including Corsair Force MP600, Maxio SSD, SanDisk Extreme Pro, Kioxia Exceria Plus G4, and the Kioxia M.2, among others.  These drives have either Phison or InnoGrit controllers, which make up the vast majority of SSDs on the market.  Microsoft have not been able to replicate the issue, which generally happens when transferring at least 50GB of data on a drive that is at least 60% full.  As there are a number of people, sites and organizations that have reported seeing this issue Microsoft is now asking anyone who can access Support for Business to report any failures.

If you aren’t a business customer, the Feedback Hub is the perfect place to file a report if you can replicate the issue.  The good news is that rebooting your machine should bring back the drive without issue, but you might want to hold off on installing a new game or gigantic patch to one until Microsoft, Phison and InnoGrit get to the bottom of this.

In a service alert seen by BleepingComputer, the company added that it couldn't reproduce the issue on up-to-date Windows 11 24H2 systems and is now attempting to collect user reports with additional information from those affected.
