Raspberry Pi 500+, Pi A La Luxury Mode
$200 For The Fully Loaded Special
The Raspberry Pi started out as an impressively capable and inexpensive product, but like most things it has steadily increased in price. Thankfully that hasn’t been accompanied by a reduction in it’s capabilities. The newest release, the Raspberry Pi 500+ is a 2.4-GHz quad-core, 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU with a case that is actually a mechanical keyboard with Gateron Blue KS-33 low-profile switches. The system has 16GB of LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM and a 256GB M.2 SSD which you can upgrade should you so wish.
The connectivity of the Raspberry Pi 500+ includes dual band 802.11b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, gigabit ethernet, and Bluetooth 5. The video comes from micro HDMI and there is a pair of USB 3.0 ports along with a single USB 2.0 port; the USB-C is for power only. The body of the Raspberry Pi 500+ is new but the 40-pin GPIO header is not, so you can still add interesting functionality to your system.
Raspberry Pi has unveiled a fully loaded version of its computer-in-a-keyboard, featuring oodles of RAM, an SSD, and a clicky, mechanical keyboard. However, you'll pay a relative premium for these features.
