Fine! Here’s A Single Player Campaign

Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN have put up their take on the latest Battlefield, if you haven’t already forked over the money to jump into the fray and the news is both good and bad.  The bad news is that while their is indeed a single player campaign, it’s pretty bad even compared to the previous single player campaigns from the series.  It seems EA was unimpressed with the overwhelming demands for a single player campaign and provided one that they hope will discourage customers from asking for one in the inevitable release of BF7.

The good news is that they didn’t go full Call of Duty.  There are multiplayer modes which resemble COD, but the traditional Conquest mode has dropped the hero shooter-like builds of a previous Battlefield game and returned to the classic class based gameplay.  As you should expect, there is already a patch forthcoming for Battlefield 6 which will make bullets less likely to pass through opponents without causing any damage, as well as a few other fixes.

RPS also posted something about Battlefield you likely didn’t know.   One of the major influences of the old classic game Shadow Of The Colossus was Battlefield 1942!  I don’t personally recall encountering giant stone monsters on Wake Island, but that was part of what inspired Team Ico.

A comfortably furnished, very loud, basically unsurprising multiplayer sequel, encumbered by what could be the worst singleplayer FPS campaign I've ever sat through - an aggressively bland piece of war porn that fails to hurdle even the low bar set by previous Battlefields. We'll circle back to the campaign. First, we have to take Bravo.
