CES 2026: Dell Expanding Alienware Laptop Lineup to Appeal to More Gamers
New Slim and Entry-Level Alienware Laptops Coming Soon
In addition to refreshing the existing Alienware Area-51 and Aurora lineup set to land in Q1 2026, Dell teased two additional gaming laptops that will see the Alienware brand expand to a gaming capable yet thin laptop that balances performance and portability and a more affordable entry-level model at a new price point. Dell announced at CES 2026 that it intends to offer an Alienware to every PC gamer and the new models are part of that strategy. The company is reportedly responding to feedback from its loyal customers and the larger gaming community.
Alienware will be delivering a new ultra slim gaming laptop that balances performance, weight, and battery life to deliver a laptop for gamers that is also powerful and portable enough for content creation, productivity, and everyday media consumption workloads. The jack-of-all-trades laptops will come in 16-inch and 14-inch versions both featuring “new highly efficient CPUs” and NVIDIA discrete graphics. Dell claims that while the 16-inch model does not target the same performance levels at its current 16-inch Area-51 laptop, the new ultra-slim design is 50% smaller in volume and measures only 17mm thick (just under 0.67″). Further, the laptops will feature a new covert design that reportedly still contains recognizable Alienware design DNS along with premium materials and long battery life. Unfortunately, that is as specific as the company got with its teaser of the new gaming laptops and gamers will have to wait until at least the spring for more information. I would expect the new models to fall somewhere below the refreshed Area-51 models though ultra slim usually has its own cost premiums so it is hard to say how well the pricing will match the more modest design aesthetics.
The Alienware model that caught my interest was the new entry-level addition to the gaming laptop lineup bringing Dell’s premium brand into a more affordable price point to entice new gamers to take the plunge into gaming laptop territory.
The new budget gaming option will not be at the same performance levels as the Area-51 series. but Alienware claims that the machines will not compromise where it matters and will still be built to “Alienware standards” of build quality and design. There are frustratingly little details about specifications or exact pricing in the CES teaser and gamers will have to wait until later this year for more information.
According to Alienware Head of Product Matt McGowan: "Alienware is expanding to cover a greater range of performance, portability, and price. Whether you’re seeking pure performance, aesthetic versatility for any setting, or your first true gaming laptop, Alienware will have an option for you."
It is not clear which new chips the new ultra slim laptops will utilize but with them coming later in the year it might hint at the latest generation Intel Panther Lake or AMD Ryzen AI processors which were also announced at CES. The entry-level Alienware was the laptop that caught my attention initially and that one may take a different approach to save money. Assuming Alienware can strike the right balance with its no shortcuts where it matters to gamers approach, it might find its niche if the price is right. I do think that Alienware has its work cut out for it though in the current environment of rising component prices, tariff uncertainty, and ever more capable integrated graphics on other non-gaming focused but capable systems making it difficult to position in the market. I am interested to see where Dell takes the Alienware brand into the future and how the new offerings are received by gamers and enthusiasts.
