Remedy Is Making Some Big Changes In The Next Control Game

Control was a third person action shooter set in the same world as Alan Wake, albeit with a very different spin.  The shape-shifting gun was certainly a unique addition and while plenty of games have psychic powers to gain, Control did a good job at including them and made several optional.  You didn’t need them to finish the game but they were fun to play with.  The game was somewhat non-linear as you could wander freely except for areas you couldn’t unlock until you’d progressed in the game, though once unlocked you could then stick your nose into those areas any time you liked.

Control:Resonant is going to be different, with more focus on skill trees and various sorts of class builds. This could make the game more interesting to those who don’t love third person shooters but can deal with it better when it’s an RPG.  We haven’t heard much else about Control:Resonant yet, but with a release expected later this year we should start to see more details revealed.

"When I was thinking about Control, and it wasn't called Control or anything like that, but I had this kind of thinking in my head that I wanted to create an RPG franchise," Kasurinen told GamesRadar.
