The Lepro OE1 Could Offer An Interesting Twist On A Traditional Floor Lamp

Manufacturer: Lepro The Lepro OE1 Could Offer An Interesting Twist On A Traditional Floor Lamp

Lepro reached out again and after being impressed with what their E1 and ZB1 outdoor LEDs did to my backyard it only made sense to reply to their email.  The Lepro OE1 uses the same app as all their other products, with what they call LightGPM 4 to let you create your own RGB light show or opt for white light at a variety of temperatures.  If you already use Alexa or Google Assistant you can also tie in the Lepro OE1 into your existing ecosystem.  The design of the OE1 features LEDs embedded in a flexible strip, which could lead to interesting designs if a creative mind were to ignore the assembly instructions.

They also sent along an impressive length of their new lozenge style Lepro EE1 outdoor lights.  They come in longer strings than the E1 from the previous review and have two separate connectors so you can actually power two strings of lights heading in different directions, or just string them all along one long length.   The specifications are essentially the same as the original E1 string lights and offer the same LightGPM features but there is one unfortunate lack.  These new lights are electrically incompatible with the originals and so you can’t physically incorporate an existing string with these new ones.  You can still group them in the app to sync your lighting but you will need to make an entirely new run.

Simple To Put Together And Control

The Lepro OE1 light has two important parts, the flexible tube of lights with a power connector located at the bottom and the stand which has the power input incorporated into it.  To make the box easy to ship the stand comes in four parts, with three metal connectors and screws to assemble them.  There is one part of the stand which is unique, the top piece has a solid end to give the light a proper stop, the others can be connected however you choose.  The metal connector slides in the grooves closest to the back of the stand, the lights slide in along the one at the top.  You can’t successfully put the light strip in until you screw everything together, so do keep that in mind.

Plug in the power at the bottom and you’re ready to roll, just pair the Lepro OE1 with the Lepro app on your phone and set up Alexa or Google assistant if you want and you’re all set.  The design is perfect if you want to point the OE1 at a wall to provide indirect lighting effects, or pointed right at you if that’s your preference.   However, the design of the OE1 does suggest you could get a little more creative than just another AI tinted floor lamp.

Get Creative With Your Light Design

The flexibility of the light strip suggests you could skip the stand altogether, all you need is the power from the base.  If you wanted something more interesting than a vertically standing LightGPM 4 infused multicoloured floor lamp.  You could design your own supports for the Lepro OE1 and twist it around or curve it into a spiral and turn it into a desk lamp.  With a bit of 3M double-sided tape, like comes with the EE1, you could surround your monitor or TV with lights and sync it to the audio coming from your game or movie.

With a bit of creativity you could make the impressive visual capabilities of the LEDs in the Lepro OE1 and truly make them yours.
