Using An Intel Core i5-1235U 2P + 8E Makes A Difference

IceWhale’s ZimaCube 2 Pro is an impressive NAS, and not just because those two performance cores are rare to find in a NAS.  In addition to the Intel processor it also has a 256GB PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD for whatever OS you want to install, it comes with ZimaOS configured but can handle any flavour of Linux you like, and there are 16GB DDR5-4800.  Your storage pool can handle a half dozen 3.5/2.5″ SATA3 drives and another four PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 SSDs.  Hopefully you bought those before prices went insane.

Connectivity options include two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 40Gbps ports and an additional two USB-A 5Gbps ports on the back and two USB-A 5Gbps, along with a single USB-C 5Gbps.   The networking options might be even more impressive, with two 2.5GbE and a 10GbE LAN port.  ServeTheHome took the ZimaCube 2 Pro on a tour of their benchmarking suite.   Check out the results here.

The ZimaCube 2 Pro is a NAS that checks a lot of boxes. You can add ten drives in addition to the boot drive while still having two PCIe slots to work with. There are Thunderbolt ports and both 2.5GbE and 10GbE networking ports.
