Computex 2026 Kicks Off And AMD Is Busy

Everything Old Is New Again, Kind Of

It’s going to be an odd Conputex 2026, as it is rather difficult to get excited about a brand new GPU family when they cost $2000+ or a new memory technology with a price tag almost as terrifying.  AMD has accepted this and instead of ignoring the pleas of their customers they’ve made some choices that will greatly help anyone who is looking to build a new PC this year.  One perfect example of this is that they have announced that the AM5 chipset will remain on new motherboards until 2029.  That means any current AMD CPU you have now will remain compatible for years to come.

AMD also took the opportunity to officially launch the Ryzen 7 5800X3D Anniversary Edition at Computex 2026.  We already knew the processor was coming, but it features one new benefit from the original, while the specs remain the same the MSRP will be $349 which is $100 less than it launched at.  This is good news for anyone looking for an affordable gaming CPU.  If that’s a little too much for you, how about the brand new AMD Ryzen 7 7700X3D, which will be $329.  The only difference between these two X3D processors is the clock speed, the 7700X3D is clocked 500Mhz lower.  Other than the 4.5GHz frequency, the core count and onboard memory are exactly the same.  It will be interesting to see how easy it is to bump the clock back up to 5GHz.

AMD also announced the global availability of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE at Computex 2026, for an expected price of $549.  That’s the same price the full flavour RX 9070 launched at.  The FPS Review also covers AMD EXPO Ultra Low Latency memory, FSR 4.1 and a bunch of AI-centric products here.

AMD is at Computex 2026, though there won’t be a keynote this year from AMD. AMD is still announcing some interesting things, and hardware and gaming-related for DIY as well.
