Which Means SteamOS And Bazzite Too!

There’s another nail in the coffin being prepared for gaming on Windows, with GoG Galaxy coming to Linux.  Currently you can only run GoG Galaxy on Linux using a translation layer like Bottles or Lutris, which is a step too far for some users.  There was no date given as to when we can expect to install GoG Galaxy natively on Linux but it is now officially in development.  The new owner of GoG is Michał Kiciński who is also a co-founder of GoG and he describes Windows as “poor-quality software”, so there will be a definite push to get GoG Galaxy ported to Linux.

There was a job posting for a Senior Software Engineer on GoG, which doesn’t seem to be there anymore which could be great news for gamers; not so much if you were hoping to apply.  Hopefully this means that soon we can start testing GoG Galaxy on our Bazzite boxes and home-made Steam Machines using SteamOS.

This is a significant undertaking, so while we’re not ready to share any specific plans, timelines, or results just yet, it’s very much an area we’re investing time and effort into.
