STALKER 2: Cost of Hope Arrives Too
The original STALKER games gave us quite the saga, with a never officially released original game that you might still be able to get running. The actual released game was certainly impressive, the follow ups not quite as interesting but still enjoyable. STALKER 2 has been out for some time but was plagued with a huge amount of bugs and some rather daunting requirements. Unlike the original, STALKER 2 uses Unreal Engine 5 instead of the proprietary X-Ray Engine all the original trilogies used.
This latest update migrates the game to the latest version of UE5, and offers even more patches to make it both look better and run smoother. You can also load the new STALKER 2: Cost of Hope DLC which expands The Zone with several new areas including one which Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN describes as “Ravenholm if Remedy Entertainment built it“.
They are 30% off on Steam at the moment, if you want to expand your library of unplayed games.
I don’t begrudge anyone who’s waited to try STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl until it got its technical defects fixed. They’re still wrong, obviously - an absorbing and eerily atmospheric survival FPS is still an absorbing and eerily atmospheric survival FPS when it has the structural integrity of baked beans.
