Audacity 4 Arrives But Has The Temerity To Drop MIDI Tracks
It Does Add Audio Stream Input/Output To Windows
There is a brand new Audacity out today with a whole new look thanks to an interface that has been completely rebuilt with Qt, a new .au4 extension and a variety of new features. Your old .aup3 files will be importable for the most part but there are a few features which didn’t make the cut in the new version. There are more new features than deprecated ones, so it is still worth taking a look.
For instance clip editing now allows you to group a number of clips to make the same edit to them simultaneously and you can paste audio files directly into Audacity from the system clipboard. The entire GUI has been modernized as well, with the ability to drag toolbars around and a dark mode of course. You can grab the new version from GitHub.
Audacity 4.0 has been released with a rebuilt Qt interface, a new clip-editing model, customizable workspaces, native high-DPI rendering, and a new AUP4 project format.
