Framework Scores “A limited quantity” Of Lower Cost LPCAMM2 Modules
An Almost Inconceivable Announcement
Framework has great news for anyone who ordered a Framework Laptop 13 Pro, as you can request a bit of a refund from Framework and there are also a limited number still for sale, at the reduced price. Thanks to the insatiable thirst LLMs have for memory, Framework’s original estimate that the price of LPCAMM2 would go up by a low-to-mid double digit percentage was way off; memory prices actually doubled. This lead to them announcing that some people who ordered a 64GB model would end up with 32GB for the same price, while others would be looking at a higher than expected price for their Framework Laptop 13 Pro.
While they won’t say where they found the discounted memory, they are being 100% transparent about it and passing the savings to their customers. The price is still higher than what they originally expected, but for some customers it won’t be quite as bad as they feared. If you are still waiting on a Framework laptop you pre-ordered and haven’t paid for, you can accept the new price or see if you can increase the amount of installed RAM.
It’s nice to have good news on a Friday for a change!
On Tuesday, Framework revealed that it has just scored “a limited quantity” of Micron 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules that it was able to acquire “at lower cost.”
