The new Creators Update for Windows 10 just received a noteworthy upgrade. Installed applications will now need your agreement to collect and transmit metadata such as your location and other information. Many of the concerns raised by Windows 10 users focused on the current configuration which defaults to apps being allowed permission to track and send information; it can be turned off by a user but only after the fact. Now applications will be installed with telemetry disabled by default unless a user agrees to the collection of information during the installation. There are cases in which it is beneficial to send your usage information, especially Windows error reports, but that was no excuse to enable that ability across the board. The Inquirer also mentions that the Enterprise version will offer greater control and limit the OS to local notifications of serious issues or updates.

Let me be perfectly clear! I want one switch that turns it all off for all apps and then I can go in and turn it back on for any apps that I choose. But forcing users to go turn things off in each individual app is going to be hard if the apps’ creators try and obfuscate the process in their respective apps.
I want a master switch to tunn OFF all the app’s switches and a notification from the OS if any app tries to turn anything back on in the background. But then I’m still running winows 7, until all this beta testing is finally DONE and over with from the folk in the cloud from Redmond.

The per-app switches AND master switch have been present since day one. The ‘new’ addition is that the app will also prompt you with the switch when it launches (because as evidenced by this very comment, users will assume a setting does not exist unless you slap them in the face with it).

So you can provide links that show that master switch causing all the in-app switches to be moved to the OFF position or is it because maybe some of those “Switches” are just for show and it’s all done through some API in the App/OS to fool the user. So maybe there needs to be some wireshark look/sees on that before I’ll ever trust that Phone OS 10 on my hardware.
When I can walk into the Microsoft store and lease an Individual Copy of the Enterprise Edition with all that telemetry and spyware turned off, not on, and the proper documentation to keep it turned off! Then I’m staying on 7, with the option of using the laptop’s windows 8/8.1 license(The HP Probook came pre-down-upgraded to 7 from windows 8). So Microsoft needs to rent me the enterprise edition at the option of paying my rent/service in cash for 2 years up front and allowing me to transfer that license/rental to a new laptop if the old laptop shuffls off its mortal coil.
It really looks like I’m never going to be using any windows OS after 2020-2023 but oh well that’s the way the Lap-Phone/PC-Phone OS crumbles!

Nope, it just silently blocks access. Which can be a problem itself: if you go through the privacy panel and switch everything to “off”, then try and set up Windows Mail (for example), you will find it just silently fails with no error message, just completely unable to connect. Then you remember you denied it access to mail, turn the switch back on for that app, and it works.
If you don’t trust your OS to do what you tell it (despite nobody thus far examining the OS or it’s telemetry finding any evidence of foul play), then you’re an utter moron for staying on 7 which leaves you in exactly the same situation. If you truly believe that Windows 10 is spying on you, then by merely using Windows 7 instead you’re lambasting somebody for hitting you in the face with a baseball bat and demanding they hit you with a cricket bat like before.
I only install the security
I only install the security only updates directly from the windows update catalog and folks are wire-sharking windows 7 to look for things. And I see no reason to bork my system will all that windows 10 services crap necesary to run the crApp store ecosystem TIFKAM apps renamed to UWP apps crApp ecosystem. Winodows 7 runs all my full appliactions just fine currently so no need to change until 2020 and then that may not be necessary with some Linux OEM Laptop SKUs out there running Zen/Vega APUs.
2020 is still some years off so why be a Beta testing fool with the updates shoved down ones throat. Windows 10 is borking some HP systems in that usual windows 10 way(1).
So Why should I suffer any problems like the abject fools that are using windows 10 currently suffer! More Fools more Beta fools for Redmond’s Brave New World of pain!
